Basadi Shield is a youth-owned company that deal mainly with personal self-defence products that are ultra-portable and suitable for females, hence the name ‘Basadi Shield’. Founded in 2019, the idea of such a business was inspired by the alarming rate of Gender-Based Violence towards women and children, whom are able and of disable condition in South Africa. Our initial products included your ordinary pepper spray and hand-held electric taser, until we discovered the existence of decoy self-defence products, and that’s when we made a transition from ordinary self-defence products to decoy ultra-portable self-defence product

My Dreams: To build a business that supports the safety of woman and children and provides small business opportunities for people wanting to promote and sell the Basadi Shield products.
Jabulani Skota is determined to change not only the nation of South Africa, but also the world, through his young business, Basadi Shield.
Born and raised in Bloemanda, Bloemfontein, Jabulani completed his matric in 2013, thereafter studying labour law at the University of the Free State. In 2015, Jabulani went on to study marketing management at Boston College.
Basadi Shield supplies ultra-portable self-defence equipment for all genders, including for people with disabilities, and was started due to the rise in the rate of gender-based violence, especially against women and children.
After researching available methods, techniques and equipment that could be used to protect women and children against perpetrators, Jabulani identified a range of products were both low-cost and highly effective in deterring attacks.
Basadi Shield stands for making positive change in the lives of people!
Embracing hard work and dedication, Jabulani believes that Basadi Shield can turn victims into victors!
